Promoting Mental Health Awareness: A Commitment to Support and Recovery
As the Board Chair of the Mood Disorders Association of Manitoba (MDAM), I am honored to convey our mission: to provide support, education, and advocacy for individuals living with mood disorders. Our organization is dedicated to fostering a compassionate community that promotes recovery through peer support and a range of services, all delivered within a confidential and welcoming environment.
This week marks Mental Illness Awareness Week, observed annually from October 6-12, 2024. This initiative is crucial in raising awareness and enhancing understanding of mental health issues that affect millions globally. By partnering with community organizations, we aim to educate the public, reduce stigma, and advocate for healthier mental health practices.
Currently, MDAM operates across Manitoba, supporting individuals impacted by mood disorders, as well as their families, caregivers, and friends. We aspire to be a center of excellence for grassroots community mental health, offering resources that empower individuals on their recovery journey. I encourage you to explore our Resource Library for valuable information and tools.
Prioritizing youth mental health awareness is vital in creating an environment where young people feel empowered to prioritize their well-being and achieve their full potential.
Together, we can make a significant impact!
