Men’s CBTm Program
This program is geared towards any man aged 18 or older, living in Manitoba who has either been directed or chose on their own to take a Cognitive Behaviour Therapy with Mindfulness (CBTm) course. Participants must be willing to participate in the research evaluation of the classes to join. No mental health diagnosis is required to register.
CBTm is an evidence-based educational program. The version we are delivering is for Men (Adults) 18+. According to the CBTm website, “Cognitive Behaviour Therapy with Mindfulness (CBTm) is designed to help you build resilience and improve your mental wellness.”
CBTm may be useful for people who are:
- Struggling with anxiety and/or mood symptoms
- Experiencing a negative impact to their life due to their mental health
- Wanting to learn new skills to help manage their own well-being.
- Parents or caregivers wanting to build skills to better support their children’s mental health and well-being.
Classes are led by a trained facilitator and held virtually over Zoom and/or in person at MDAM’s office. Sessions are approximately 90 minutes long and occur once per week for 5 weeks.
The classes include a PowerPoint presentation in lecture format. Participants are encouraged to discuss and ask the facilitator questions if they feel comfortable.
Skills practice will be assigned weekly. Participants are welcome to bring one support person to attend the classes.
Research Information for CBTm Program
To determine if the CBTm programs are helpful, individuals will be asked to fill out a set of questions for each class and following course completion. The questions will ask about their mental health, as well as gather feedback on the program. All information gathered is held on a secure server and data will be made anonymous.
This program will be delivered from June 1, 2024 – May 31, 2025.
The program will be delivered online via Zoom and/or in person at MDAM’s office, for 1 hour to 90 minutes per week for a total of 5 weeks per session. There is a maximum of 10 participants per session or 100 participants in total. We will alternate between delivering virtual and in-person sessions.
